Mary Gow is an artist in love with line, color and form.

Her artwork focuses on creating compositions that have a sense of dramatic movement with a bent for abstraction. "I am inspired by the textural vibrant work of Van Gogh, the playful imagination of Miro, the gestural feel and Fauvist palette of Matisse, and the integrity of the lines of Kandinsky. Using the play of elements and light, I like to show how art reflects life:  many things going on at the moment and much deeper than what is on the surface," said Gow.

She is a member of the International Society of Experimental Artists, the Pacific Art League, the San Francisco Women Artists, and the Graphic Arts Workshop. Recent recognition includes six awards in 2008 and acceptance in the 2009 edition of the book, American Art Collector.

She also expresses herself through calligraphy, writing and design.  A published writer and photographer, her work that has appeared in newspaper, magazine, and television.

Gow lives and makes art in San Francisco.  Before coming to California, she lived in Austin, Texas, where she worked as a photographer. She has exhibited her work since 1988.
